Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men; protect me from men of violence, who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day. (140:1-2) As I read this psalm today, my mind immediately thought of the persecuted church around the world. It is hard for me to relate to David’s prayer in Psalm 140. I do not have people seeking my life on a daily basis. In fact, I can’t even imagine such an existence. To wake up every day not knowing if it will be your last…if your enemies will prevail…if you will be targeted for an attack. Yet this is the existence of thousands of Christians around the world.
